GROUND RULES

Please read and understand the following rules. Each team captain is responsible for his/her players and others with the team, to know the rules and follow them. 

2012 Falconn Kapamilya Cup IV Bowling League formal opening day will be Sunday August 26, at 
9:30 am. Good Luck!

Article I. REGISTRATION AND ELIGIBILITY:

1. Registration is by team with one time registration fee of
$5.00 per bowler.

2. Game Fee: 
$ 48.00 per game for each team, ($12 per player), for the whole duration of the tournament. This to cover the expenses for the Bowling Alley, prizes and miscellaneous.

3. Teams must register on or before
July 15, 2012.

4. Teams shall consist of minimum of 4 bowlers and maximum of 6 bowlers only.  Four  players to be listed as "regulars" and the remaining 2 players to be listed as "substitutes or alternates."

4.A    This is a mixed league; all teams must have at least 1 regular FEMALE BOWLER and must            

         always have at least 1 female bowler bowling every week.

5. All players must sign the Release, Waiver and Assumption of Risk form. No signed waiver, No play.

7. If the player is below 18 yrs old, his/her parents should sign on the release, waiver and assumption of risk form provided by the FALConn.

8. Teams can only change and/or add player/s after the opening day or first Sunday games of the tournament. No more changing and/or adding of player/s after the 3rd Sunday game of the tournament.

9. Falconn 2012 Bowling Tournament is a Filipino League, therefore, bowlers of each team should be Filipino by blood or has Filipino roots (i.e. either parent is pure Filipinos or one of the parents is a pure Filipino by blood). However, Falconn 2012 Bowling League will allow 1 non-Filipino player per team if any team so desires. The Non-Filipino player should have an AVERAGE OF 200 or less, for the Advance Division and for the Novice division; Male Non-Filipino bowler should have an AVERAGE OF 150 OR LESS, and for Female Non-Filipino bowler should have an AVERAGE OF 130 OR LESS.


 

Article II. TEAM AND PLAYER:


1. Each team should register one (1) official team captain and one (1) co-captain. The captains shall be responsible for the game score cards as well as collection and submission of team dues per game. They will also be responsible for conduct of the team. Good sportsmanship rules apply.


2. Game time is Forfeit Time. No Exceptions. Teams are expected at the bowling alley 10 minutes before the designated time for attendance and practice time.  Team will be given only 10 minutes  as "grace period." After the grace period expires, a pin penalty and/or forfeiture can be implemented.

3. Teams must have a minimum of 4 bowlers, including a captain, to begin tournament opening day. This is necessary for all teams to acquire the minimum of 4 player team averages for handicap and absentee purposes of future matches.

 

4. The League will have a pool of “Floating Substitute Bowlers” for both Novice and Advance Division.

            4.A. The “Floating Substitute Bowler” can substitute for any team.

            4.B. Any team could request for a “floating Substitute Bowler” to bowl for them.

 

5. Each team shall pay $48.00 per bowling day (3 games) or $12.00 each bowler.

              5.A. The Team Captain should submit the team’s payment before the start of the 2nd game.

              5.B. It is within the team’s internal arrangement if their respective substitute/alternate bowler will pay for the game he/she would bowl.

              5.C. If the team would request the “ Floating Substitute Bowler” to bowl, the team should shoulder his/her fee ($12.00).

6. Team shirts will be available at vendor's cost through Falconn at a cost of 
$20.00 per person.  Prices are subject to change.  Teams have an option to provide their own uniforms but must strictly follow FALConn shirt requirements; 1. Must have a collar. 2. Must have the FALConn logo on the right chest. 3. Must have the KAPAMILYA CUP BOWLING LEAGUE on the left chest. 4. Must have the team name on the back.  **Please note the team color choices are awarded on first registered, first selection basis. Team selection will be finalized upon submission of registration form to Falconn Commissioners.** 


7. Teams must have matching team shirts with team name displayed on the back. The front of the team shirt will also bear the FALConn logo.

 

8. All Bowlers must always wear their respective Team uniforms on all games. NO UNIFORM, NO PLAY, NO EXCUSES!


9. Teams are responsible for any damages to the facilities and equipment that are caused by their players. Any damages to the facilities and/or equipment, or misconduct deemed inappropriate by the Event Director of venue, Falconn Commissioners or Falconn Board Members and Assistants may result in ejection from the event. There will be absolutely no refunds or awards given to any team ejected.

10. Teams will be divided into the Novice and Advanced Division depending on the team average and upon the discretion of the Bowling Commission.

10.A. Teams will be allowed to play in the Novice Division if they have 1 (only 1) advanced player and/or upon the discretion of the Bowling Commission.

10.B. There will be a MANDATORY BOWLING, on August 19, 2012 at 9:30 am, Rip Van Winkle Bowling Center, Norwalk, CT before the formal opening day, August 26, 2012 at 9:30 am. This is to determine the individual and team averages and final determination of the Novice and Advanced Division. This Mandatory game will be considered as an “official game.”

10.C. ALL REGULAR BOWLERS SHOULD HAVE BOWLED BEFORE THE 3RD WEEK OF BOWLING.

10.D. The STARTING AVERAGE will be as follows:

                        NOVICE DIVISION:       MALE- 130

                                                            FEMALE- 100

                        ADVANCE DIVISION    MALE – 150

                                                            FEMALE - 130


Article III. GAMES AND SPORTSMANSHHIP:

1. The tournament shall apply the USBC Rules in Bowling and rules of Rip Van Winkle Lanes of Norwalk.

2. Sportsmanship rules are provided to each team by Falconn and will be sworn in by each player. These rules will be strictly enforced. 

3. While the Game is in Progress, a BOWLER shall be disqualified and ejected out of the game if: He/she commits two (2) unsportsmanlike offenses in a game; He/she commits any combination of the types of offenses subsequently mentioned;

       3A. Provoking, taunting, baiting and trash-talking are unacceptable behavior and will result in immediate ejection from the game. This rule is under the discretion of Falconn Commissioners and officials. A review of the incident will be given by commissioners and officials regarding the implementation of any additional disciplinary action.

4. A player/captain disqualified or ejected out of the game shall automatically be suspended on his next game. Repeating this offense he/she shall be automatically disqualified from further participation in the league. Should the event occur during the last game, the suspension will be imposed on the next league.

5. Fight. In the event of fighting, every bowler involved will be automatically disciplined and/or banned from the league. A fight means: someone who has thrown a punch or kick an opponent or other physical contact that is not related to bowling. The FALConn officials and the bowling commissioners will have the final decision.

       5A. Any incident involving more than one (1) bowler from each team could result in automatic ejection from the game, including any players from the bench.

       5B. Any league bowler engaged in a physical altercation with any other league bowler, on or off venue premises, shall be subject to disciplinary action which can result in game suspensions or league banishment. 

6. Bowler/s caught giving an obscene gesture/s or heard using any offensive language to any official/s, technical committee/s, or to an opponent, that bowler/s will be given:  a Warning on the first offense; an Ejection from the game on the second offense and will be suspended on his next team game. 

 

7. Unruly Supporters will be automatically asked and/or escorted out of the bowling premises.

8. Starters, Substitutions, Alternates and Absentee Bowlers : Each team shall consist of 4-6 bowlers. 4 bowlers to be listed as "REGULARS" and the remaining 2 players to be listed as "substitutes and/or alternates." Each team must have at least 1 REGULAR FEMALE BOWLER.

         8A. The starting/regular 4 bowlers will be automatically listed on the bowling alley computers upon the team's arrival. These players shall be the ONLY players allowed to compete in the 3 games of each tournament day. The substitutes, alternates and absentees can ONLY be used in the following manners;

         8.A.a.   A substituting bowler can ONLY join a game if a "starting" bowler has become injured or under circumstances which dictate a player must be removed from the starting line up and game play. This issue must be discussed with Falconn Commissioners or Board Members for approval.

         8.A.b. A substitute bowler can bowl if the Regular bowler will not arrive/ will be late before the League starting time. If the regular bowler arrives before the start of the 2nd game, that regular bowler will be allowed to play the 2nd and 3rd game. If the regular player arrives during the 2nd game, he/she will not be allowed to play and the substitute bowler must finish the 2nd and 3rd game.

 

         8.A.c The Substitute Bowler has the option to play the whole game (1st-3rd) even if the Regular Bowler is already available to bowl. As long that he/she bowled the 1st game.

      

         8.A.d. Substitutes will be allowed Only before the league day starts( start of 1st game), NO SUBSTITUTES WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY on the 2nd and/or 3rd game, unless rule 8.A.a is applied.

 

         8.A.e. A Substitute Bowler will be allowed to play on Position Weeks, as long as he/she has bowled a minimum of 9 games.

 

         8.A.f. The Rule regarding Substitute Bowlers will be Strictly Implemented only in the Advance Division.

 

       8.A.g. For the Novice Division, the Substitute Bowler can substitute anytime. But once a bowler have been substituted or goes out of the game, he/she is not allowed to play again for that day.

 

         8.A.f. Substitutes will not be allowed to bowl( only Regular bowlers) on the last 2 postition weeks(including Championship). If the Regular bowler is absent, the absentee rule (blind bowler) will be applied. This will be applied to both the Novice and Advance Division.

9. In the event a team does not meet the 4 starters rule and no substitute bowlers are present, an absentee rule can be applied. With this rule, a team may select one of the absent regular bowler's "bowling average minus 10 pins" to be used as a "ghost" bowler. This means the selected "ghost" bowler's current average will be used in place of a physical player and that will be the total score of that bowler in each game. 


10. Handicap: An 80% handicap shall be given to the team with the lower "team average" of each match. This is to maintain competitive match-ups regardless of skill levels. This will be automatically calculated by Bowling centers computer and will be automatically registered before each Bowling day. 
**The handicap is calculated according to the starting players. Any substitutions or alternate players will re-calculate the handicap value.**

             10.A. Averages and Handicaps will be automatically re-computed after every 3 weeks of bowling.

11. Walk-Out, Forfeiture, Default. A team who “walked-out” on the game shall lose the game by default.

12. All teams will be allowed to have 2 PRE-BOWLS and they must inform the other team and must have at least 1 Bowling Commissioner present. If the other team decides to Pre-bowl against the requesting team, that team will not be charged of a used Pre-bowl.

13. Postponed Games. All postponed games will be re-scheduled at the end of the tournament and/ or a morning and afternoon bowling.

14. If any appeals of the rules are made, the decision of the tournament officials or commissioners is final.

15. Team Captains shall observe and obey all rules and oaths pertaining to sportsmanship and will thereby be responsible for maintaining the sportsmanship discipline within their team. 

Article IV. GAME FORMAT:

1. The Game format to be used will depend on the actual number of teams submitted and approved by commission.

2. The bowlers will bowl 3 games per bowling week.

3. The 
venue shall select the team match-ups for each week. Each team will have 1 week advanced notice for each match-up, starting on day 1. This notice will be presented to each team captain in the statistics sheet provided by the venue each week. 

 

4. POSITION WEEKS:

 

             4.A. The position week for Advanced Division will be every 4th bowling week (4th,8th and 12th bowling week). The 15th week of bowling will be the last position week. This will determine the Final standing before the championship week.

           4.B. The position week for the Novice Division will only be on the 15th week, which will also determine the FINAL STANDING for the Championship week.

         4.C.The 16th week will be the championship week. Everything will be back to zero. The winner of the #1 vs. the #2 teams (based on the Final Team Standing after the 15th week) will be the champion. This will be applied to both the Novice and Advance Divisions.

Article V. FORCE MAJEURE.

After 20 minutes that the force-majeure have occurred, the following procedures shall be applied:

1. If the force-majeure occurred before the first half of the game, that game shall be canceled and re-scheduled at the end of the round. The game will start from the beginning. Only those present team members on that canceled game can play on the re-scheduled game.

2. If the force majeure occurred after the first half of the game, the game shall be continued at the end of the round. All scores, fouls, team fouls, time remaining, etc. shall be valid. Again, only those present team members on that canceled game can play on the re-scheduled game.

3. If the Commission decides to postpone a game/s because of “Force Majeure” before it has begun, the said games will be played at the latter part of the tournament.

Article VI. PROTEST.
The protesting teams must follow the procedures stated:

1. Protest on "bowler’s eligibility" shall be entertained by the Falconn Board Members and Commissioners of the league only.

2. Any "game" protests shall be given to Falconn Kapamilya Cup IV Bowling Commissioners in confidence. A private meeting will be arranged for further discussion.

3. Any Protests should be submitted 24 hours after bowling. 

4. Decisions of the Commissioners, Board Members and the FALConn President shall and will be final.

Article VII. RELEASE, WAIVER, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK.

1. All participants of the 3nd Annual FALConn Kapamilya Cup IV Bowling League of 2012 are required to sign a notarized “Release, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk” form. These forms are included in the registration packet.

Article VIII. GENERAL:

1. By accepting admission into this event, each and every participant accepts responsibility for all injuries and indemnifies the host, event workers, host facilities and all others who have put this event on for your pleasure.

2. POOR SPORTSMANSHIP WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! This is a friendship tournament and we expect CAPTAINS, BOWLERS and FANS to be on their best behavior. Violators will be asked to leave the facilities.

3. The FALConn event officials and commissioners reserve the right of final decision pertaining to any action committed by a bowler, captain or fan.

4. The 2012 Falconn Kapamilya Cup IV Bowling Commissioners, FALConn Sports Director and FALConn President also reserve the right to change/modify any of the rules above. This will be done in the best interest of the Falconn Organization, the Bowling League and of all the Bowlers as a whole, not the captains or fans or any individual.
