PROJECT PAMANA ONE - BUILDING SCHOOL CLASSROOMS & TOILET IN EASTERN VISAYAS
The year 2011-2012 set the tone for FALConn CaRes. After a series of voluntary services that we did here in our community and a number of charity works in the Philippines, we thought that it is about time to look back to our roots, to give something in return. This gave birth to FALConn's "PAMANA"(Philippine-American Aid to those in Need of Assistance), a one of its kind community development project geared to help and provide assistance to our "kababayans" in the Philippines.
With the support of the FALConn Ladies, the FALConn Youth, SDACOM, FALConners and our Filipino-American community donors, we have chosen Biasong Elementary School in Hinundayan, Southern Leyte, to be part of our pilot project.
We are glad that we are now in the process of achieving this goal. Under the direct supervision of Mr. Eddie Manongsong (Youth Director), we are already starting the renovation of the two unfinished classrooms in Biasong. These structures are expected to be completed until the last week of October, 2013.
On behalf of FALConn, we would like to thank the whole FIL-AM community and the people of Biasong for your unwavering support to this endeavor. Without your help, this would have not been made possible.
FALConn believes that we can all make a difference to the lives of others, whether big or small. What is important is that we made use of this privilege to do whatever we can. Our legacy should not be etched in just mere stones but should be in the hearts and minds of others and the stories they would tell about us. - Barbara Magtibay, FALConn Charity Director

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF SALSALAN HU KATATAU (PANDAYAN NG KAALAMAN) The relatively new Parish of St. Francis Xavier in Kibangay, Lantapan, Bukidnon is one of the more remote mission parishes of the Diocese of Malaybalay. It was originally part of the mission areas of the Society of Jesus among the natives in the Central Highlands of Eastern Bukidnon in the early 1950’s until the late 1980’s. The Scarboro Missionary Fathers of Canada took over in the late 1980’s to the early 2000’s. It was during this period that settlers from the lowlands and indigenous people from other parts of the Philippine, notably Igorots from the Cordilleras, came and introduced massive cultivation of high value crops (vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes, etc) which grew very well in this extremely cool place. In the early 2000’s, the parish was turn over to the diocesan clergy of Bukidnon. Fr. Romeo Kentilikesta, Jr was the first Filipino diocesan parochial vicar. The past parish priest was Fr. Conrado L. Casas, Jr., was installed in 2007.
The parish is located in the highlands of Eastern Bukidnon between Mt. Kitanglad and Kalatungan, two of the most prominent landmarks of Mindanao; the former is one of the highest peaks in the entire Philippines. It is around forty five kilometers away from Malaybalay towards the West...Continue reading |
